It's usually noise, but it often crosses the boundaries of atmosphere and location, take rain for example, it contains a huge amount of whitenoise and is kind of noisy but it's wanted and gives the sound or location a certain atmosphere, but look at ventilation noise, totally unwanted and definitely noisy but it's also a location sound with a certain atmosphere and sometimes even that is wanted, and that kind of defines the weirdness of this Sample CD, it's a creative toolbox of a wide verity of noise that either can be used for filthing sounds down or place sounds in a certain location or just give it a certain atmosphere, the creative possibilities are endless, but one thing's are for sure there is no other compilation like it on the planet! Sometimes the urge for some weatherly elements
comes upon you, and for those who tried to record rain knows the problematics around it and that mother nature also have to be in on it, all the natural elements are hard to record even though wind is probably the hardest, Hollywood didn't made things easier with it's cinematic rain that is very custom made "indoors" and therefor don't contain so much hiss from the surrounding rain pouring down, but still has put a stamp on how rain should sound even if it's not totally natural. This is though a selection of real high quality rain and some Lo-Fi ones recorded during a three year session with some occasional thunder and most made into loops, perfect for laid back music or commercials / films, made with TripHop, ChillOut, Lounge, Ambient and New Age in mind.
